Abstract

This paper examines the evolution, integration, and future potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the Albanian educational system, considering both opportunities and challenges from a multidisciplinary perspective. The research has three core objectives: (1) to critically analyze the recent policy reforms and digital strategies driving AI adoption within Albania’s education sector; (2) to evaluate current applications of AI—including personalized learning, automation of assessment, and digital inclusion—and their effects on educational quality and equity; and (3) to identify key barriers, including infrastructural limitations, gender disparities, and ethical concerns, that shape the trajectory of AI integration. By synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data from academic literature, government reports, and institutional case studies, the study offers evidence-based recommendations designed to align national policies with European standards and to promote responsible, inclusive, and effective uses of AI in education. This interdisciplinary analysis highlights the critical interplay between technological innovation, social equity, and ethical governance in shaping the future of Albanian education(Xhentila TATAJ & Muhamet KOLA, 2020). Special attention is paid to gender equity issues, public trust, and the alignment of Albanian educational reforms with broader European digital transformation agendas (Erilda Muka etal., 2023)(Anxhela Ferhataj et al., 2025).
